The Castle

This is one of the oldest structures to be restored for use by the architect José María Pérez, “Peridis”, and it has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest.

It is at this location in the province of Soria, mentioned in the census carried out by Alfonso X “The Wise” in 1270, that we find the Aldealseñor Palace, built between the 14th and 16th centuries.

It originally belonged to a family of nobles, the Salcedos, and this much is obvious from the family coat of arms on the facade. Their descendants lived in the medieval palace until the end of the 18th century.

The medieval palace’s tower is a lofty construction whose possible origins were thought to be 10th century Berber. The experts, however, feel the structure was more residential in intention than defensive.

The battlements on the palace wall, in fact, would appear to be more ornamental than anything else. The main features of the palace itself are the portals with their medallions and heraldic crests.
